STANDINGS

Collectively, all of the Astros MiLB affiliates went 34-28 over the last eight days. Fresno has done the most to improve their stock, winning eight straight and climbing five games up in the standings into second place in their division. During that same time frame, Corpus Christi was 2-3, falling into a second place tie in the second half. Buies Creek and Quad Cities have each gone 5-3 over the last eight games and are both in good position starting the second half.

As to the short season teams, Tri-City's recent 2-5 record has dropped them to third place, but there is still a lot of baseball left to play in their season and the new draft picks are looking to make their mark. Greeneville is also in third place after their recent 4-4 record, but are only one game behind the division leader. Unlike recent seasons, the GCL 'Stros have gotten off to a good start with their 3-1 record. The DSL Blue team (3-4 in the past week) has dropped in the standings, but remain only one-half game out of first place. The Orange team, however, lost more ground in the standings with their 2-5 week.

Plus, here are your 2017 Gulf Coast League Astros (I've noted the assignment of this year's draft picks above).

Other draft picks and non-drafted free agents who have either signed or agreed to terms but haven't been assigned to a team yet: RHP Corbin Martin (2nd round), RHP Peter Soloman (4th round), CF Carlos Diaz (14th round) and RHP Matt Ruppenthal (17th round). Twelve players remain unsigned with a deadline of July 7th.

And Dustin has updated the Social Media post with info on non-drafted free agents here and all players who have currently signed are indicated in bold.

And, finally, in case you missed it, I looked in on former Astros who are currently playing in Independent and Foreign Leagues.
