Astros Farm Report: 7-8

So many roster moves, so little time ... but first things first!

STANDINGS

Collectively, all of the Astros MiLB affiliates went 34-26 over the last week. Of the full season affiliates, Quad Cities has done the most to improve their stock, winning seven straight games and claiming sole possession of first place. Fresno slipped a bit; after taking 12 in a row, they lost the next three games and dropped one game further behind Reno (D'Backs) in the standings. Buies Creek's 5-2 record for the week was enough to propel them to a tenuous first place standing for the second half, only a half game in front of the Down East Wood Ducks (Rangers). And, following a rough trip to Arkansas, the Hooks are back home, hosting the Arkansas teams. Their 3-4 week dropped them to third place in the second half standings, but they are 2-1 in the current homestand and are looking to build on that.

As to the short season teams, the Appy League Greeneville team has been rocking and rolling from 3rd place to first (only a half game in front of the Elizabethton Twins) by going 6-0 for the week. The more advanced Tri-City team has not fared as well; their 3-4 week has dropped them another game behind in the standings, but they are on a two-game win streak. Both the Gulf Coast League (1-5 for the week) and the Dominican Summer League Orange Team (0-6 for the week) have had less than stellar weeks, but the DSL Blue Team's 5-2 record for the week was enough to take them from a tie for third place in the division to a tie for second place.
